19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his initial championship for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial title following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

Victory also means he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet defended four early chances in a close third set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
